Is it a good idea to buy a Diesel?
It's no secret that the UK government has announced that internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and commercial vehicles will no longer be made in the UK from 2030.
Although this means you will no longer be able to buy a new diesel vehicle from 2030, existing vehicles will be unaffected. Given the life cycle of a diesel vehicle, especially a campervan, can be several decades, this shouldn't affect vehicles bought today. If anything, there will still be people looking to buy ICE vehicles, as the country is still not set up for charging electric vehicles from properties with no offstreet parking. This could even push prices up as we approach the deadline.
The vast proportion of commercial vehicles today are still diesel-powered, and there will be always be a market for them and a network of fuel stations selling diesel. Given that the current range on the electric equivalent is approximately 150 miles, diesel is really the only sensible option.
