Useful Tips For Using Your New CamperKing Campervan

Important Notes For Your New Camper

1.     Always secure the roof using the straps before driving.

2.     Always FULLY close the zips of the windows in the roof space/pop top before moving the bed board or roof up or down.

3.     Take some tension off the seat belts before raising and lowering the bed. Take the headrests off first.

4.     There are two gas cut-off taps. One where the pipe secures to the bottle. The second one is in the cupboard under the sink furniture unit. Turn gas OFF for sleeping or driving.

5.     If you have non-standard wheels, please be aware that your speedo reading may be inaccurate by up to 5mph (i.e. a reading of 70mph may mean you are doing 75mph). Please confirm your speed using Sat Nav.

6.     Additionally with non-standard wheels, your spare wheel will be a different size and is not suitable for use on the front axle, and only low speeds and short journeys on the rear.

7.     The gas bottle you need is Camping Gaz 907.

8.     The single passenger seat rotates on its axis. The seat must be raised slightly to ensure the plastic trim around the bottom of the seat does not catch anything.

9.     When cooking, always raise both glass lids up over the hob and sink.

10.  Always put the glass tops down carefully over the sink and hob, they can break if they fall, or if too much weight is put on them.

11.  When disconnecting the electric cable, always push down the blue lever to release.

12.  The water tank takes 20L, and we recommend not to drive with it full.

13.  The interior lights will not work with the engine running.

14.  The diesel heater will not work with less than 1/4 tank of fuel

15.  Do not put hot drinks or other hot items on the worktop. It is not as heatproof as a standard kitchen worktop.

16.  We recommend NOT to use the poppers on the canvas roof or the curtains unless they have been lubricated. They are tight fitting and the material can tear if they are forced apart.

17.  In the event of a breakdown, please call VW Commercial Roadside assistance on 0800 777 192

18.  When you receive your new V5, you will need to apply to the DVLA to show the correct number of seats in your van.

19.  Your habitation check is valid for one year from the DATE OF CONVERSION. This will be on your habitation certificate.

20.  If you have a swivel base on your driver’s seat, we take no responsibility for any incidents where the van is not secured from rolling – either during operation or when being used. This is an aftermarket conversion which we do not endorse, and there is a risk of the van rolling while the handbrake is not fully up.

21.  There have been a very small number of incidences of ‘Oil Over Filled – Please Visit Workshop’ warning being shown on the dashboard. In this case contact your local VW Commercial dealer who will advise next steps. To avoid this happening, please ensure that the vehicle is not used exclusively on short journeys, as this affects how the DPF filter behaves, which in turn has an effect on oil levels. We would advise that once every two weeks the vehicle is driven on a journey of at least 30-45 mins.

22.  Do not use any corrosive cleaner on your tap. The tap is plastic and the coating will strip off easily. Tarnished taps will not be covered under any warranty.
